Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The editorial board of the peer-reviewed scientific and practical journal "South Russian Journal of Cancer" accepts for consideration manuscripts that must correspond to the subject of the journal and the requirements of the editorial board. Only articles that have not been previously published in other publications are subject to publication in the journal. It is not allowed to send to the editorial office works that have been sent to other publications.

Publication in the journal "South Russian Journal of Cancer" is free of charge.

The manuscript should be sent to the editorial office in an electronic version via an online form.

The following documents with the manuscript should be sent to the editorial office in the form of scanned originals in *JPG or *PDF format:

Requirements of the editorial board of the "South Russian Journal of Cancer" for manuscripts:

  1. FORMAT

The file must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (extension *doc, *docx). Font – Times New Roman, size – 12, line spacing – 1.0.

  1. THE LENGTH OF THE ARTICLES

The length of the article must be no more than 20 pages – for the heading "Original article", 25 – "Literature review", 12 – "Lecture", 10 – "Clinical case reports". If there are more pages, it should be agreed with the editorial office.

  1. TEMPLATES

All materials of the manuscript (the main text, reference list, information about the authors, figures, tables) must be provided to the editorial office in the form of a single text file. We recommend using the templates:

  1. THE STRUCTURE OF THE ARTICLE

4.1. The title page of the article contains

Russian-language abstract:

  • Article title (should be brief and informative. The use of abbreviations and acronyms, as well as trade (commercial) names of drugs is not allowed in the title of the article);
  • first name, patronymic, surname of the author (fully);
  • the name of the organization (institution) where the author works or studies (without the designation of the organizational and legal form of the legal entity: FSBI, FSBEI HE, PJSC, JSC, etc.);
  • the address of the organization (institution) where the author works or studies is indicated in the following format: index, country, city, street, house;
  • e-mail and phone number of the author responsible for communication with the editorial office;
  • summary (it is a brief and consistent presentation of the material of the article by the main sections and should reflect the main content, follow the logic of presenting the material and describing the results in the article with specific data). The length of the summary is at least 250–300 words.

The summary should be structured in the following headings:

Original article: The purpose of the study, Materials/Patients and methods, Results, Conclusion;

Health organization: Introduction, Purpose of the study, Materials/Patients and methods, Results, Conclusion.

  • keywords: the number of keywords (phrases) should not be less than 3 and more than 15 words (phrases).

English-language abstract:

  • Article title (the English-language title must be correct in terms of the English language, and correspond to the Russian-language title);
  • Author names (full name must be written in accordance with the BSI transliteration standard, or in the same way as in previously published articles in foreign journals);
  • Affiliation (the official English-language name of the institution, address must be specified);
  • Abstract (the English version of the abstract must correspond in meaning and structure to the Russian-speaking part and be correct in terms of the English language);
  • Keywords (must be in the same order as in Russian language). It is important to use in the English version and in the translation only those terms that are understandable to the international community.

4.2. The main part

The text of the article should be submitted in Russian language (in English – optional).

  • The structure of the original article: introduction, the purpose of the study, materials/patients and methods, the results of the study and their discussion, conclusion.
  • The structure of the health organization: introduction, the purpose of the study, materials/patients and methods, the results of the study and their discussion, conclusion.
  • The structure of the review article: introduction with justification of the relevance of the problem, the purpose of writing the review, data sources, analysis of the research results, conclusion.
  • The structure of clinical case reports: introduction with justification of the relevance of the problem, description of the clinical case, discussion, conclusion.

4.3. References

  • Authors should refer to modern scientific literature (sources of information of the last 5 years). It is recommended to include the research of Russian authors in the citation.
  • Bibliographic references in the text of the article must be placed in square brackets in the order of citation to the authors (not alphabetically!).
  • Number of cited papers:
    • original article/health organization – no more than 30;
    • literature review – no more than 60;
    • lectures and other materials – up to 15.
  • In all cases when the cited material has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), it must be specified at the end of the bibliographic reference. The DOI of the article should be checked on the website http://search.crossref.org or the International DOI Foundation (IDF).
  • The second list of References is a complete analogue of the list of references, in which sources in Russian should be presented in the Roman alphabet (Latin alphabet) in such a quality that these references can be taken into account when studying the citations of authors' publications and journals. If the article has an official translation of the title, it should be inserted instead of transliteration. Transliteration should be carried out in the BSI
  • The bibliography should be designed in accordance with the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

EXAMPLES OF DESIGNING THE REFERENCES

4.4. Information about the author(s)

The full names of all (!) authors are consistently indicated in the order as at the beginning of the article – academic degree, academic title, position, place of work, city, country. ORCID, SPIN, Author ID, Researcher ID, Scopus Author ID.

Separately, the author responsible for communication with the editorial office should be highlighted (with the * icon).

It is strongly recommended (in the interests of the authors) to register and provide the identifiers:

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID – An open system of indexes of scientists and researchers) – http://orcid.org

SPIN-code (personal identification code of the author in the SCIENCE INDEX) – https://elibrary.ru/author_info.asp?isold=1

ResearcherID (the personal identifier of the scientist associated with the Web of Science system) – https://researcherid.com/

Scopus Author ID (a unique identifier of the author, which is assigned with the indexing of the author's first publication in Scopus) – https://www.scopus.com/

The problem of different spelling of the author's full name is solved, which simplifies and automates the process of identifying the author.

4.5. Contribution of the authors

Personal contribution to the writing of the article should be briefly described after the surname and initials of the author (idea, collection of material, processing of material, writing an article, scientific editing of the text, etc.).

Example:

Contribution of the authors (in Russian):

Artemyeva S.S. scientific management; research concept; methodology development; participation in development of curricula and their implementation; writing the draft; final conclusions.

Mitrokhin V.V. participation in development of curricula and their implementation; follow-on revision of the text; final conclusions.

Contribution of the authors (in English):

……

The list of authors does not include people who are not the authors of the article. The names of people who are not authors, but have provided other support, are indicated in the "Gratitude" section.

IMPORTANT! Information about the contribution of the authors should be indicated at the end of the article after the "Information about the authors».

4.6. Additional information

Conflict of interest. Authors should disclose financial or other existing conflicts of interest related to the manuscript.

A conflict of interest can be considered any situation that can affect the author of the manuscript and lead to the concealment or distortion of data.

In the absence of such situations, the wording should be used: "The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest".

Information about financing. If there is a source of funding for the research (a commercial organization, a state organization, a foundation), it is necessary to specify it. The amount of funding is not required to be specified.

Example: The research was carried out with the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (project number).

Example: This work was not funded.

Gratitudes. The authors may express their gratitude to the people and organizations that contributed to the publication of the article, but are not its authors. At the same time, it is necessary to specify the specifics of the participants' contribution.

Example: The author expresses gratitude to L. V. Anokhin, an employee of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, for technical assistance in carrying out the research.

4.7. Illustrative material

  • Photos should be presented in high quality in the format *jpg, *tiff.
  • All tables and figures should be numbered and have a name.
  • References to illustrative material should be given in the text of the article in parentheses.
  • Explanations of the values of all curves, letters, numbers and other symbols should be made in the captions under the figures.
  • Inscriptions and captions to the illustrative material should be given in the language of the text of the article and, as a rule, are repeated in English.

4.8. Abbreviations

The units of measurement should be given in SI. All abbreviations (acronyms) in the text of the article should be fully deciphered at the first use. The use of non-generally accepted abbreviations is not allowed.

It is recommended to indicate the statistical reliability/unreliability of the differences in the data presented in the tables with superscript characters *,**,***.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to select materials for publication, editing, shorten the published materials and adapt them to the rubrics of the Journal.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if have not been published or sent for publication elsewhere.

  2. Together with the manuscript, a Cover Letter and Publishing Contract should be sent to the editors. Both templates are presented in the "Guidelines for Authors" section.

  3. The submitted article file should be prepared in Microsoft Word document format.

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one line spacing, font Times New Roman, 12 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables should be placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Full internet addresses (URLs) should be provided for links where applicable.

  6. The length of the text of summary should be within 2000 symbols (at least 1 page inkap Word).
    The length of the summary text (for articles of other headings) should be within 1000 characters.

  7. Principles on informed consent

    The journal "South Russian Journal of Cancer" relies on the principles of the World Medical Association's (WMA) policy statement - the Declaration of Helsinki - a statement of Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects) and endeavours to ensure compliance with ethical and data collection standards for research involving human subjects. Before beginning research, the researchers should familiarise themselves with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration on informed consent and carry out the research in strict accordance with those principles.

    Please use our Informed consent form for any image, multimedia file or description that needs consent to publication. Please print out the form, fill in the details, ask the patient or next of kin to read and sign the form, sign it yourself and submit it with the File Designation «Supplementary file for Editors only».

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

The Publishing contract completed and signed by all the authors of the article, should be sent to the editorial board together with the article.

Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
